Sector111 Motor Sports primarily focuses on Auto Cross. It gives us access to a very competitive field without running the risk of wheel-to-wheel contact. We have fielded 3 cars, one on each coast and one in the Midwest; ending with National Auto Cross Championship.

To aid us in our quest for trophies, we have enlisted the aid of drivers all experienced in Auto Crossing the Elise. To begin our season, we will have three teams: Team Central, Team West and Team East

Team Central:
David Smart
SmartDavid Smart is our newest Sector111 Motorsports driver.  He drives a 2005 Lotus Elise prepared for Super Stock (SS) in the SCCA Solo Program.  The car is currently equipped with SCCA Legal Ohlins double-adjustable dampers (Sector 111), Lotus limited slip differential and traction control, modified Stage 2 exhaust, BWR front anti-roll bar, SSR competition wheels, and Hoosier A6 tires.

David’s experience in SCCA Solo racing began in 2004 when he drove a Honda S2000 to a series championship in the Texas Region program.  He took some time off in 2005 and decided to participate in Rotax kart racing.  During that time David completed the Jim Hall Kart Racing program placing 1st in inner class competition.  Unfortunately, recurring rib injuries ended his kart racing pursuit.  In 2006 David traded in his Rotax kart for a different kind of kart, a 2005 Lotus Elise.  The Elise was good in stock form leading to a 2nd place series finish in the Texas Region program.

2007 Series
smart2007 opens a new chapter for the Lotus with preparation moving away from stock trim.  New Ohlins double-adjustable shocks sponsored by Sector111, an OEM limited slip differential, and other adjustments should make it an exciting year.  David will be participating in the Equipe Rapide and Texas Region SCCA series, Walnut Ridge and Houston National Tours, and 2007 Nationals in Topeka.

To date the car has been entered in (6) 2007 events.  With that comes a great start including (3) 1st place finishes, (1) second, third and fourth.  Texas Region and the Southwest Division offer quality SS competition.  Drivers include co-driver and teammate Greg Stirneman, talented Lotus pilots Ken Oregeron and Stanford Curry, the Doug and Stuart Maxcy super-fast GT3 team, and Z06 drivers Charles Cram, Jim Hollingsworth, and David Jones.

Team East:

 Jerry Enger

Jerry became one of the first owners of a federal Elise in the country, and almost immediately took it to his local Autocross. He became Philly Super Stock Champion this year showing fantastic raw talent and the ability to learn quickly. His novel ways of getting his Hoosiers to the event also show extreme determination. Sector111 motorsports is delighted to have Jerry on board.

Dave Newman

Dave has won three National trophies co-driving with three time National Champion Pat Salerno. Dave is a regular instructor at EVO schools, and is considered one of the best drivers in Solo competition. He finished high up in the trophies in 2005, despite a poor draw in driving order due to weather conditions. Dave is a well known and respected driver. He will race in all the tour events except Denver, will race at Nationals and probably 2/3rds of the local events. Dave brings many years autocross experience to the Sector111 Motorsports team.

Team West:

 Steve Warwick

Steve also bought one of the first Lotus Elise, since then, Steve has logged over 1000 miles of track testing at Laguna Seca, Button Willow, Willow Springs and Streets of Willow with the Elise. Steve has also been auto crossing, and became Los Angeles Street Tires stock (SK1) Champion for 2005. Steve has also demonstrated raw talent and an ability to pick up autocross quickly.

Peter Maassardjian

Pete is our newest team member but a seasoned SCCA veteran. He competes regionally and nationally, along with instructing for the BMWCCA, SCCA and various other car clubs in San Diego and Los Angeles. He has won numerous trophies including, 1st place champion in SanDiego SCCA in ‘04 and set the fastest time in his class at the 2005 national SCCA autox event in Kansas.

The Cars

Cars compete in Super Stock, which means that the cars have to be as they can be ordered from the factory with a few exceptions. They have Ohlins SCCA compliant 2-way adjustable shocks and a Larini Sports Exhaust system. Team East was equipped with an LSD. Cars will run Hoosiers in the majority of events. With this setup, the cars are nationally competitive.
